Coat of Arms

armoiries

The fleur de lys indicates that we are located in the province of Quebec, Canada, and reminds us that Messines was the first municipality in the province to raise the "fleurdelysé" flag, in 1948.

The green fir trees represent the first arrivals in our region who were lumberjacks and lived off the forest.

The sickle and fork: after the lumberjacks, the first settlers began to clear the land for a living.

The boat: in parallel with the development of agriculture, we witnessed the establishment of several vacationers who came to take advantage of the large number of lakes found in the municipality and in the periphery.

The red flowers: these flowers are spirea. They were proclaimed the emblem of the parish of Messines, during the 75th anniversary celebrations.

The banner is located at the bottom of the coat of arms. It indicates the legal name of the municipality.

The Logo

logo messines

On the logo to the left of the sun are grains of wheat, representing one of the region's resources, agriculture, while the tree represents the diversity of the region's forests.

The mountain, another geographical element, is represented by the mound at the base of the sun and the grains of wheat.

The territory features several bodies of water.

Of these bodies of water, three in particular stand out, evoked here by the three white stripes rising towards the sun.

The sailboat supports the water-based leisure activities made possible by these various bodies of water.

The drop of water under the tree reminds us of the natural drinking water source in Avila Bernier Park, accessible to all.
